The title says it all, Slam-Minded now has a fan page on facebook. I'm still trying to figure out how to automatically link posts from here to facebook, but in the meantime if you have a facebook account you can drop by and "like" us. We're Still Around / New Russian Slam

Sorry for the lack of posts the past couple of weeks people. It's the start of a new school year for both Andy and I and that has taken up a lot of our time. I just received a bunch of CDs in the mail however and I know Andy has some new things planned so keep an eye for new content in the coming weeks.

And just so this post isn't a complete waste, I'll talk about Weakness, a pretty good new slam band from Russia. They're very new and all they've released is a two song demo which came out this year. However they have already been signed to Pathologically Explicit Records and judging by the songs on their myspace this was a very good decision by PER. Weakness sound really heavy and have a lot of great slams reminiscent of both other Russian slam bands (Abominable Putridity, Katalepsy) as well as a couple good stop-start and evil sounding riffs that reminded me of the new Human Rejection album. Considering they are a demo level band I was very impressed by their songwriting and overall sound. Check out their myspace and see what you think.

Slam-Minded Returns From MDF

Sadly Maryland Death Fest is over now and Andy and I have been forced back to the real world. We did not come away from MDF empty handed though. Not only did each of us buy a ton of CDs but thanks to Barrett of Sevared Records we also have a ton of demos/promos to review as well. We each also obtained Devourment's new album Unleash the Carnivore direct from the band. There should be a ton of new content up on S-M in the coming weeks so keep reading.

We just got back from MDF and it was amazing. I'm sure Andy, like me, is completely exhausted right now, but over the next few days we will post news, reviews, pictures and commentary on the whole thing. Until then I'll leave you with this picture of Dying Fetus.

Slam-Minded Blog partners with Self-Digested Records!

Our blog has recently begun formal cooperation with new label Self-Digested Records. The label, operating out of Pennsylvania, is a rather new one started by two guys who love slam. Sound familiar?! Of course it does, because that was S-M's start too. We are happy to announce that we'll be working with the label to promote their releases, and in turn we will assist them in finding new underground slam bands to procure and release the material of.

However, it doesn't seem like they even fucking need our assistance considering their upcoming schedule which includes a new full-length by Texas slammers Glossectomy (yeah, NOT the Japanese...though they're apparently still alive...somewhere), a three-way Filipino slam split(!) from three raw and low-fi brutal bands (I hear that the S-D guys are remastering the material though): Disastrous, Tortured Maternity, and Last Vigil. The label will also be releasing a Human Mastication 7" later this year. We'll be repping these guys a lot since they are a good upcoming label with some great shit on the menu! Long live brutality!
